Overcoming Anxiety and Depression with Hypnotherapy in Coventry, Warwickshire and the West Midlands
To some degree, feelings of anxiety and stress about certain situations is a normal part of life and can even improve our performance. However, for many people, their level of anxiety exceeds what is helpful and they can develop debilitating symptoms and beliefs which can make them feel as though they are losing control. There can be a link between anxiety and depression. They can exist separately, but one may lead to and intensify the symptoms of the other.
Anxiety can take the form of a generalised dread of the outcome of everyday experiences; it can lead to chronic panic attacks for some people and social anxiety for others, who may feel they need to avoid many situations because of what they imagine will happen if they engage in these situations. It is clear that these levels of anxiety have a detrimental effect on health and quality of life. The cause of anxiety, stress and panic attacks is a very individual thing and, as such, differs greatly from person to person.
There are different types of depression and if you feel you are depressed, it is very important that your GP is aware of this. In fact, I am unable to treat anyone who is not under the care of their GP. The symptoms can be overwhelming and, as with anxiety, will differ from person to person.
Clinical Hypnotherapy has proved to be a very gentle but effective way of getting to the root cause of anxiety and quickly reducing the effects of it. It can also complement other treatments used to help both anxiety and depression. It helps your unconscious mind to change your perception of a situation or the feelings and emotions that are attached to that situation. I use Hypnotherapy to teach you powerful techniques to deeply relax your mind and body in a safe, calm and confidential setting. I also use Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) to help you to identify ways in which your self-talk and behaviour are stopping you from approaching life’s challenges in a more positive way. These two techniques combined can help you learn to become relaxed very quickly when faced with a situation that currently causes you anxiety and you will learn to self-hypnotise so that you can really increase the effectiveness of the treatment and feel confidence and control return to your life. I will help you to work towards personal goals that feel achievable for you.
The number of sessions needed is very personal, but many people find three to five bring about the lasting change they are looking for.
